Thomson enters his tenth season at the helm of the Bluejay women’s soccer program.
Thomson received a master’s degree in science in recreation and sports science with a
concentration in soccer coaching from Ohio University in 2019. He earned a bachelor’s degree
in graphic design from Tabor in 2006. He was a two-time captain for the Bluejay men’s soccer
team and earned All-KCAC honors in 2004.
Upon graduation from Tabor in 2006, Thomson became the assistant coach at Pittsburg High
School in Pittsburg (Kan.). In 2010, Thomson founded the Southeast Kansas Soccer Academy
and took over the women’s program at Independence Community College. His 2013 ICC roster
broke every record in school history, posting a 7-7-2 record.
Thomson’s 2021 Tabor squad finished 7-7-4, finishing fifth in the KCAC with a 5-3-4
conference record. Tabor landed six players on the all-conference team.
Coach Thomson resides in McPherson with his wife Melissa and their three children: Sawyer,
Moses and Henry.
