WINFIELD, Kan.     The Bluejays picked up an impressive road win against a tough Moundbuilder opposition on Saturday. A well-fought contest allowed for the Bluejays to come away with the 2-1 victory.

The first half was tightly contested with the Moundbuilders having one better on the shot count in the first half. It was Payton Eskridge, the senior out of Wichita, who broke the stalemate with a goal in the 15th minute of play after a great long ball from Kylee Bush. Eskridge did well to wriggle away from her defender and find the bottom corner to make the score 1-0, giving them the 1-0 lead into halftime.

The second half brought early pressure from Southwestern and their efforts paid off after a defensive mishap allowed for the winger from the Moundbuilders to fire a ball across the box for the striker to smash the ball home to tie the game up. However, the Bluejays never-say-die attitude meant that they were not down for long, as the senior Sydney Takash found the net after a corner was whipped in. This proved to be the game-winning goal for the Bluejays, as they held on the rest of the way for the 2-1 win.

"It was a good game for us. I thought we played a complete game and I am really proud we were able to rebound from giving up the early goal in the second half. The girls worked really hard to execute the game plan. We had a lot of players step in to fill in spots who did well," Head Coach Ian Thomson said.

The Bluejays will be on the road again on Wednesday, September 27th, to face the Coyotes of Kansas Wesleyan University with kickoff set for 5:00 pm.

Tabor College is a Christ-centered institution located in Hillsboro, Kansas.  The Bluejays are members of the NAIA and compete in the KCAC.
