Box Score HILLSBORO, Kan. The Tabor Bluejays came into the game against the McPherson Bulldogs looking to bounce back after a hard-fought, one-goal loss to the Hastings Broncos.
The first half started well for the Bluejays with freshmen Madison Rinas getting the ball rolling with a goal in the first three minutes of the game. This goal was followed by a second from senior Payton Eskridge, who bared down on the Bulldog defense and smashed the ball home for the 2-0 lead. A defensive error from Tabor allowed for McPherson to get back into the game later in the half, with the 2-1 scoreline going into halftime.
"McPherson plays a different style which threw us off a little bit, but scoring early helped us," Head Coach Ian Thomson said.
In the second half, Tabor came out firing on all cylinders with senior Sydney Takash scoring in the 47th minute. Goals from sophomores April Ochoa and Makenna Torea sealed off an emphatic win, allowing Thomson to empty the bench and give some valuable experience to younger players.
"In the second half we woke up a bit. We realized we could take the game to them," Thomson said.
The Bluejays will be on the road on Saturday, September 16th to play Friends University, with kickoff scheduled for 5:00 pm.
Tabor College is a Christ-centered institution located in Hillsboro, Kansas. The Bluejays are members of the NAIA and compete in the KCAC.
