WEHRMAN BREAKS SCHOOL RECORD IN HEPTATHLON

CONCORDIA, Neb.   At a meet in which he was the only participant for Tabor, freshman Caleb Wehrman put on a terrific performance at the Concordia Early Bird Invite.

"For his first ever indoor heptathlon, Caleb did a good job! It takes a lot of mental and physical stamina to compete in all the events in a heptathlon over 2 days," Head Coach David Kroeker said.

Wehrman, who came to Tabor from Edwardsville, Kan., took sixth in the heptathlon with a score of 3696. The score also set a school record for the Bluejays, breaking the old record of 3514 points previously set by Trenton Parrish in 2015.

On Friday, Wehrman participated in the 60m dash, long jump, shot put and high jump. The following day he competed in the 60m high hurdles, pole vault and 1000m run.

"He will get a couple more opportunities to increase that point total during the rest of the indoor season." Kroeker continued, "He has some improving to do but Caleb is a very hard worker and he will, no doubt, get better at some of the new events that he is learning and raise his point total significantly."

Wehrman and the Bluejays are next scheduled to compete at the Scott Nisely Memorial Classic in Crete, Neb. on Jan. 13.

Tabor College is a Christ-centered institution located in Hillsboro, Kansas. The Bluejays are members of the NAIA and compete in the KCAC.
