MCPHERSON, Kan. After a tough loss on the road at Oklahoma Wesleyan, the Bluejays hoped to follow with a win against McPherson College. Unfortunately, the ladies dropped in three sets.
Head Coach Casey Quiggle said, "Coming into the game, we felt we had prepared well but knew it would be a bit tough without Sammie Saunders who is out due to injury. We started with a little different line-up in the first set to try and offset her absence. The women played well and there were positives in both the first and third sets. However, we never could get enough momentum going, which ended up keeping the games close to a certain point."
In set one, McPherson got ahead but it didn't take long for the Bluejays to catch up. After a few defensive errors, the Bulldogs took full advantage causing Tabor to lose set one, 20-25. Set two was looking good for the Bluejays tying up the score multiple times early. After a quick timeout, McPherson went on a run to get ahead and the ladies couldn't find a rhythm, losing 13-25. The third set looked promising for the Bluejays leading most of the set. In the end, it just wasn't enough, losing 20-25.
"No one likes losing but we have to have a short memory and move on, and prepare for Friends on Saturday. It's been a good season overall and we're much improved compared to last year. We've still got work to do and we need to focus on Saturday and then the first round on Tuesday, Nov. 7th", said Coach Quiggle.
This game puts their KCAC record at 5-7 and overall 13-12. The Bluejays' next game will be Saturday, Nov. 4 at 3 p.m. against the Friends University Falcons in Hillsboro, Kansas.
Tabor College is a Christ-centered institution located in Hillsboro, Kansas. The Bluejays are members of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and compete in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC).
