Box Score Hillsboro, Kan. The Bluejays came into the contest looking to cause an upset against the Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles who are top of the conference. However two unlucky goals in the first half meant a 2-0 victory for the Eagles on the night.
The Bluejays came out in the first half ready for battle as they looked to take the game to the Eagles, however a deflected goal in the 10th minute of the game put the Bluejays in a hole in the tough conditions. The Bluejays fought back hard with Jami Dooley and Payton Eskridge both coming close. Another Eagle goal on the stroke of halftime meant that the Bluejays went into the break 2-0 down.
Despite being two goals down against a quality opponent the Bluejays still looked to try and find a way back into the game. The Bluejays looked every bit a team that can compete at the top level of the conference. Unfortunately the Eagles were able to see out the 2-0 victory, making the final score a 2-0 win for the Eagles.
"The girls really worked, they battled, they did not get overwhelmed and I really appreciate the effort. Now we get to go into the postseason with a positive mindset and let's see what happens," said Head Coach Ian Thomson after the game.
The Bluejays will travel to Ottawa on Saturday, Nov. 4. The kickoff time is yet to be determined.
Tabor College is a Christ-centered institution located in Hillsboro, Kansas. The Bluejays are members of the NAIA and compete in the KCAC.
