Kansas City, Mo.    The Bluejays went to Kansas City looking to extend their three-game unbeaten run. Extend it they did with a hard fought 2-1 victory over the Eagles.

The first half of the contest brought pressure from the Eagles as they were able to get ten shots on the board in the first half. However, the Bluejays were able to weather the storm and find a goal late in the half through Torrance Gonzales who slotted the ball past the keeper to make the score 1-0 going into the break.

The second half brought a turnaround from the Bluejays, who enjoyed a lot more of the offense and they were able to get ten shots of their own in the second half. Their persistence paid off when Jami Dooley scored in the 77th minute of the game off a Makenna Torea assist. That was Dooley's third goal of the season. Avila fought back and scored a goal of their own in the 88th minute to make for an intense ending to the contest. Despite this the final score ended 2-1 in favor of the Bluejays.

"I thought the Avila game was a different style of game for us. Missing Marie (Seeger) in the middle we knew we were not going to be able to build as much and with Avila playing the high press we knew the space would be in behind. We have to be better in the final third, but breaking the initial press and finding the space really helped. Overall, a win is a win, we will take the three points and move on to York," Head Coach Ian Thomson said.

The Bluejays will play next on the road at York on Oct. 25 with kickoff set for 3:30 p.m.
