Box Score Hillsboro, Kan. The Tabor Bluejays were looking to keep their two-game unbeaten run going on Wednesday night with a victory over the Swedes. Two games soon turned to three with a 2-1 hard fought victory for the Bluejays on the night.
The Bluejays hit the ground running with freshman Taylor Nye finding herself on the scoresheet in the 2nd minute of the game for her first goal of the season. Despite the Bluejay domination in the first half, the Swedes were able to make it hard for Tabor and pull a goal back in the 21st minute. It would be a scrappy half with chances for both teams, however the teams would go in all square at the break.
The second half would start the same as the first with the Bluejays hitting the ground running. This time it was April Ochoa who scored perhaps the goal of the season in the 47th minute of the game to make the score 2-1. Tabor would continue to have the better of the chances with 15 shots in the half, however the Swedes would continue to have chances and frustrated the Bluejays. Despite this the final score would be 2-1 in favor of the Bluejays.
"At the end of the day it doesn't matter how you get three points, you just want three points and a win, but we did a lot of good things. I think you have to give credit to Bethany who showed up ready to play and they went after us. They controlled things until we were able to settle down and make some adjustments. I was proud of the girls' resilience to stick with it but credit to Bethany and their coaching staff," Head Coach Ian Thomson after the game.
The Bluejays will next play on the road against Avila on Oct. 21 with kickoff set for 12 p.m.
Tabor College is a Christ-centered institution located in Hillsboro, Kansas. The Bluejays are members of the NAIA and compete in the KCAC.
