Coach Josh Roach enters his second season as the Head Coach of the Tabor College Men’s Basketball program. He joined the Bluejays after four successful years as an Assistant Coach at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (USAO). During his time at USAO, the program posted a 75-32 record, captured the 2021–22 Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) Regular Season Championship, the 2020–21 SAC Tournament Championship, and made two appearances in the NAIA National Tournament.
While at USAO, Coach Roach played a key role in player development, helping produce two NAIA All-Americans (Cameron Hines and Samkelo Cele), eleven All-SAC selections, and the 2021 SAC Player of the Year (Cameron Hines).
Prior to his time at USAO, Roach served as a Volunteer Assistant at Union College (KY), coached high school basketball for eight years in his home state of Indiana, and spent three years as the Director of Operations at a Christian-based basketball academy in Evansville, Indiana.
Coach Roach holds a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with a minor in Coaching from Ball State University (2006), and a Bachelor of Arts in Science and Education from Western Governors University (2018). While attending Ball State, he contributed to the women’s basketball program as a scout team member and also served as an assistant coach for the Wes-Del High School girls' basketball team.
A coach deeply committed to mentorship, Roach views basketball as a platform to help young men grow both on and off the court.
“I was that college kid who went through the motions—getting the degree without really stretching myself as a person. I learned the hard way that a diploma doesn’t mean much if you don’t have a direction. That’s what drew me to coaching: to help young men find their purpose. Basketball gives us the gift of teaching life lessons in a competitive, demanding environment. When you embrace adversity, you grow—and that growth is what I’m here for.” – Coach Josh Roach
