HILLSBORO, Kan. – Tabor College has a long history of athletic tradition, and fans will get a sneak peek of some of this history every Friday in the form of Flashback Friday.
 
In this week's installment of Flashback Friday, the spotlight shines on Bluejay Women's Soccer.
 
Tabor College started offering women's soccer as a varsity sport in the fall of 1995. Fast-forward to the fall of 2000 when the Bluejay Women steamrolled through the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC), recording a perfect 9-0 record in league play, marking their first regular-season conference title as a program. The Bluejays finished the season with a 14-3 overall record, falling to Hastings in their first trip to the NAIA District 4 Tournament.
 
The 2000 team had six players earn KCAC All-Conference First Team honors (Christy Wehrman, Sarah Dougherty, Becca Toews, Cheryl Baldwin, Melanie Kurtz, and Chrissy Previtera), while Wehrman was also named KCAC Defensive Player of the Year. Melissa Korf, Laura Phillips, and Katie Whitcomb earned second team honors, while Dolly Regier was named an Honorable Mention selection. To top things off, then-Head Coach, Don Brubacher was named as the KCAC Coach of the Year.
