BLUEJAYS DROP TWO IN ATCHISON

ATCHISON, Kan. – Friday evening provided Adam Brewster with a chance to test his squad against a pair of strong opponents from the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HEART) at the Benedictine Quad. While in Atchison, the Bluejays matched up against the Heart's preseason No. 11 rated Baker Wildcats and conference preseason No. 2 Benedictine Ravens. For the Bluejays, these matches would serve as a good barometer after dropping the season opener on Tuesday against Mid-America Christian.

  • With the loss, Tabor drops to 0-2 on the season
  • The all-time series between the Bluejays and the Wildcats moves to 12-11, with TC holding a one-match advantage
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
  • Catherine Eddy and Jacee Ray led the way offensively with five kills apiece
  • Eddy and Breonna Smith each recorded a team-high .250 attack percentage
  • Smith also led the way with four total blocks in the match
  • Mia Maly recorded a team-high 13 assists, while EmiLee Walnofer was busy defensively with 14 total digs
MATCH SUMMARY
  • Set One
    • Tabor started out the highly competitive match with a one-point advantage, courtesy of a service-ace by Jacee Ray
    • Baker rattled off four points in a row to take the lead
    • A five-point Bluejay run midway through the set saw the score at 18-16 in their favor
    • After falling behind by two, TC tied the set once again at 22, courtesy of a kill and an ace by Ray
    • A blocking error and two kills sealed the set, with the final score reading 25-22 in favor of the Wildcats
  • Set Two
    • The second set saw Baker take a commanding 10-4 lead to open things up
    • After being down by as many as seven, TC tied things up at 17, by way of yet another Jacee Ray service ace
    • The Bluejays pulled within two, but that would be the closest they would come, as Baker took the second set, 25-23
  • Set Three
    • Another ultra-competitive set saw Tabor take a 14-10 lead, before Baker rattled of 13 straight points
  • The Bluejays made a final push of their own with a run of six points, but it would not be enough, as they fell by a score of 25-20

  • Set Three
    • The Bluejays kept things competitive in the third set, ultimately falling, 25-21
  • Set Four
    • The fourth and final set went down to the wire, with the Ravens taking the set and the match, 25-21
UP NEXT
  • The Bluejays make the short trip down the road to face Hesston College next Thursday in the first official meeting between the two programs since the 1985 season.
