BLUEJAY VOLLEYBALL SET TO OPEN 2025 CAMPAIGN IN OKLAHOMA CITY

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Bluejay Volleyball looks to get into full-swing on Tuesday evening, opening up the 2025 campaign on the road at Mid-America Christian. Head Coach, Adam Brewster, is excited about his squad and the growth they made throughout the offseason. 
 
Notables
  • Liana McGonigle returns for her senior season after finishing second on the team offensively in 2024 with 192 total kills and 2.02 kills per set
  • Mia Maly and Josephine Fuamatu bring additional upperclassman leadership to the 2025 squad, with both playing in a majority of the team's matches a season ago
  • Olivia Lazenby will look to make an impact coming in as a transfer from Fort Scott Community College (Kan.) where she competed in 29 matches, recording 221 total digs and 2.33 digs per set
  • EmiLee Walnofer adds additional experience to the Bluejay roster after playing in 35 matches at North Platte Community College (Neb.) a year ago, tallying 675 receptions, 466 total digs, and 3.58 digs per set
 
Scouting the Evangels
  • Picked to finish fifth in the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) Preseason Coaches' Poll after finishing the 2024 campaign with a 21-14 overall record and a 15-7 record in conference play
  • Head Coach, Holly McKamie, brings back several impact players from last year including: Casady McKinney (695 assists, 5.65 A/S, 53 aces, 0.43 SA/S, 45 kills, .267 K/S, 302 digs, and 2.46 D/S), Alicia Obusekova (292 kills, 2.37 K/S, .167 ATK%, 30 aces, 0.24 SA/S, 375 digs, 3.05 D/S, .938 RCV%, 47 blocks, and 0.38 B/S), and Ryley Bowden (542 digs, 4.41 D/S, .922 RCV%, 48 aces, and 0.39 SA/S)
  • Marcela Nalin looks to begin her career at MACU on a high note after transferring from Otero College in Colorado
 
Series History vs Mid-America Christian
  • Dates back to 1998, before MACU joined the NAIA
  • Tabor won the first meeting between the two programs, 3-0
  • Tabor holds a narrow 4-3 lead
  • MACU has won the last two meetings, most recently taking a 3-1 decision on Aug. 19, 2022, in Oklahoma City
 
Outlook
Coach Brewster and the Bluejays look to start things off on a high note, and with a combined group of veteran leadership and seasoned newcomers, the season opener will no doubt be intriguing to watch.
