WASHINGTON, MORENO-HAIRABEDIAN LEAD BLUEJAYS TO DOMINANT SWEEP

YORK, Neb. – After splitting the series with Kansas Wesleyan on Saturday, the Lady Bluejays aimed to secure a pair of wins to boost their conference record in the first of three doubleheaders scheduled for the week.

Going into the doubleheader with the Panthers, Tabor held an overall record of 16-13 and a conference record of 7-7. York entered with an overall record of 8-26 and a KCAC record of 3-13.

GAME ONE: W, 16-3

Tabor came out swinging in the top of the first, posting three runs on a three-run homer by Cheyenne Washington. Although York responded with a three-run homer of their own in the bottom half of the inning, tying the score at 3–3, that would be their only offense of the game.

The Bluejays took control in the second inning, adding four more runs fueled by timely hits from Washington, Candince Moreno-Hairabedian, and Khily Brower. The Bluejays kept the momentum going into the third, capitalizing on York's fielding errors and consistently driving in runs to extend their lead to 12–3. Washington and Moreno-Hairabedian remained offensive standouts, each delivering clutch RBIs. Tabor's aggressive baserunning and clean hitting made it difficult for York to contain the surge.

By the fourth inning, the Bluejays added another four runs, including a two-run homer by Moreno-Hairabedian, putting the game completely out of reach. York's offense stalled after the first inning, failing to score despite scattering a few hits. With no answer in the bottom of the fifth, the game concluded early under the mercy rule. Tabor's explosive offense and solid pitching from Marisa Carranza sealed a dominant 16–3 win.

GAME TWO: W, 12-1

Tabor got on the board early with a two-run homer by Darcy Gillen in the top of the first, capitalizing on a walk to Mylee Milne. Although York managed to get two runners on in the bottom half, Madison Nelson's pitching held firm, stranding both without damage. Tabor added another run in the second thanks to an RBI single by Milne, steadily widening the lead to 3–0.

The Bluejays continued to apply pressure in the fourth inning as Milne launched a three-run homer, giving Tabor a 6–0 cushion. York finally broke through in the bottom of the fourth, scoring a single run on an RBI single, but that would prove to be their only run of the game. Despite a couple of hits in that frame, Tabor's defense and timely strikeouts limited any major threat. York was unable to build momentum or string together any consistent offense.

Tabor put the game completely out of reach in the fifth with a six-run explosion. The inning featured clutch pinch-hit performances, including RBI singles by Dessa Zavala and Payten Staley, and was capped off by a three-run blast to center by Washington. York managed two hits in their final at-bat, but again failed to score, sealing another mercy-rule victory for the Bluejays. With back-to-back dominant wins, Tabor closed out the doubleheader in convincing fashion.

Washington has been a powerhouse at the plate this season, tallying 11 home runs and boasting a .431 batting average with an impressive .863 slugging percentage. She leads the team with 49 RBIs, followed closely by Gillen, who has driven in 40 runs. Staley has also posted strong offensive numbers, contributing to a well-rounded lineup. 10 Lady Bluejays with at least 12 at-bats are currently hitting above .300. As a team, Tabor ranks 8th in the nation in home runs, with 30 homers launched so far this season.

Tabor will be on the road once again on Thursday afternoon, this time heading to Wichita to face the Lady Falcons of Friends University for another afternoon doubleheader. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. at Two Rivers Youth Complex with game two following shortly after around 5 p.m. Tabor will enter the doubleheader with a 18-13 overall record and a 9-7 record in KCAC play. The Falcons will enter the contest with an overall record of 24-10 and a conference record of 12-4 on the season.
