HILLSBORO, Kan. – There are several things that Tabor College is known for, whether it be the tight-knit faith-based community, athletics, or the arts. On the athletics side, the Bluejay Baseball program comes to mind as one of the most notable programs at the school. Coach
Mark Standiford has built the Bluejays into a KCAC and NAIA powerhouse, winning six conference titles and making eight appearances in the NAIA Opening Round, and two NAIA World Series appearances.
Before Standiford's arrival, the program made several NAIA District appearances as well as two appearances in the NCCAA World Series.
In 1990 the Bluejays made their first trip to the NCCAA World Series and followed that up with an appearance in the NAIA District 10 tournament.
The Bluejays returned to the NCCAA World Series again in 1992.
These two seasons were bright spots for a program that had not seen much success and would not taste that success until the early 2010s.
The Tabor College Sports Information Department is showcasing former athletes and/or their respective teams throughout the 2024-25 school year in the new Flashback Friday series. The goal of this series is to bring recognition to the alumni that helped build the Bluejay Athletic Department into what it is today, as well as to create excitement for the current athletic programs here at Tabor.
