HILLSBORO, Kan. - The Tabor College Bluejays delivered strong performances at the Baker Classic, headlined by Vance Shewey's 2.16m (7'1") high jump. Shewey set a new personal best and is now ranked number 1 in the NAIA for high jump.

Ivan Jirak also impressed, placing 5th in javelin (49.00m) in his first competition in the event. Brock Herrman took 2nd in the hammer throw (43.02m), and Jirak won the shot put (15.15m), while Joshua Garcia placed 7th (13.23m).

On the track, the men's 4x800m relay team—Taegan Gallagher, Nick Green, Javin Schmidt, and Matt Veloz—took 1st with a time of 8:38.30. Veloz also placed 6th in the 1500m with a PR of 4:10.09. For the women, Adrienne Selzer placed 2nd in the 3000m (10:55.55), and Lauren Aden finished 4th (11:18.79), both setting personal records.

We are all super happy for Vance Shewey who not only hit a PR but is also now ranked number 1 in High Jump for the whole NAIA. We turn our focus to our most important race of the year at our conference meet next week with the goal of getting Vance some company at the National meet."

Building on standout individual and team performances, the Bluejays now set their sights on the KCAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The team will return to Salina, Kan., to compete in the championships, set for May 1st-2nd.
