HILLSBORO, Kan. — The Tabor College men's tennis team has been named the KCAC Champions of Character Team of the Year for the 2024-25 season, as announced by the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference. In addition, senior Jake Goertzen was selected as Tabor's individual Champion of Character honoree.
The awards, presented by IMA Financial Group, are part of the NAIA Champions of Character program, which emphasizes integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership in collegiate athletics. The Team of Character award is voted on by peer coaches within each sport across the conference.
The Bluejays were recognized not only for their performance on the court, but also for their commitment to character and community. The team participated in multiple service opportunities throughout the year, including "High Five Fridays" where players greeted students at a local elementary school to start their day with encouragement and energy. Several team members also served in leadership roles in on-campus clubs and organizations.
Goertzen, a standout on and off the court, was selected as Tabor's individual Champion of Character recipient for consistently modeling the five core values of the program in all areas of student life.
The KCAC Champions of Character honors reflect the ongoing effort to build a culture of character-driven athletics. Through their service, leadership, and example, the Tabor men's tennis team continues to make a meaningful impact in both the campus and Hillsboro communities.
