WICHITA, Kan. – Wednesday evening marked another opportunity for the Bluejay men to take the floor as they made the short trip down the road to Wichita and the Garvey Center, to take on the Friends University Falcons. Last time the Bluejays took the floor they hosted Sterling College on Saturday, falling to the Warriors by 15. The Falcons entered Wednesday's contest fresh off a win on the road at Avila University on Saturday afternoon.
TC came hot out of the gate, taking a lead, they held until the 15:19 mark in the first half. Friends took their chance to push a lead of their own, pushing that lead to as many as 17 points before the Bluejays answered back, cutting their deficit to 11. The Falcons continued to score following Tabor's resurgence however, extending their lead to 17 at the half, 51-34.
In the second half, the Bluejays found themselves down by as many as 32 in the early goings of the half. The remainder of the second half was a battle as Tabor continued to work to cut their deficit, but it was something they could not overcome, falling by a final score of 108-76.
Brett Buckingham hit a huge three towards the final buzzer to give the Bluejays some life.
Kam Kaniper led the Bluejays on the offensive side of things, recording 21 points, shooting 66.6% (8-12) from the field and 57.1% (4-7) from beyond the arc.
Kalep Crane and
Zach Hiebert rounded out the team in double figures with 18 and 16 points respectively. Hiebert and
James Shoenfelt led the team on the glass with five boards apiece, while
Jackson Baer recorded three steals.
The Bluejays are back in action on Saturday as they play host to Kansas Wesleyan University in the second matchup of the season between the two programs. Tipoff is scheduled for 7pm.
