WICHITA, Kan. – After securing an important 71-56 victory against Sterling on Saturday, the Lady Bluejays will be on the road again this Wednesday evening to face the Falcons of Friends University.
This will mark the Bluejays' second encounter with Friends this season, as they look to extend their five-game winning streak tomorrow night. The last matchup between these two teams occurred on Dec. 11, with the Bluejays falling short in a 12-point loss to the Falcons.
Throughout history, Tabor has a combined 24-20 record against the Falcons. They hold a 10-10 record on their home court and a 12-9 record when playing at Friends.
In their last matchup with the Falcons,
Lillie Veer and
Kloe Bowin led the team in scoring, while a handful of Bluejays assisted on both ends of the court. Ivy Pruesser,
Adrian Hazelwood, and
Brooke Berlin all contributed to the Bluejay offense as well, and they will look to do the same tomorrow evening.
In Saturday's matchup with Sterling, Bowin secured 19 points and
Alyvia Owens shot 100% on the evening, also scoring in double figures. The Bluejay offense has been on fire recently, shooting 49% from the field and 78.3% from beyond the arc against the Warriors. Tabor aims to maintain their disciplined scoring approach against Friends while leveraging their strong defensive ability to shut down opposing offenses.
Friends comes off a loss this past Saturday to Avila University, managing only to shoot 28.6% from the three throughout the game. Looking to build off this momentum, the Lady Bluejays will have to stay disciplined against a dominant Friends team. Lauryn McIver, Kori Babcock, and Taylor Jackson of the Falcons present a significant challenge to the Bluejay defense, as each player scored in double figures in Saturday's loss to Avila.
As a team, the Lady Falcons are shooting 42.3% from the field and 26.4% from the three-point line. Friends averages about 45 rebounds a game as well. Friends enters the contest with an overall record of 14-8 and a conference record of 12-4. Tabor enters with an overall record of 14-7 and a KCAC record of 12-4 as well.
The Lady Bluejays will be back in action in Wichita tomorrow evening. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. in the Garvey Center at Friends University. The contest will be broadcast live on the KCAC Network.
