SMITH NAMED KCAC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK AFTER MONSTER STAT LINE

KANSAS – The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) announced their selections for their KCAC Women's Basketball Players of the Week on Monday afternoon. Tayton Smith was named as this week's KCAC Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts during last week's slate of competition.
 
Smith had an incredible week for the Bluejays, scoring 13 points and shooting 66.7% from the field in the win on Wednesday over McPherson, and scoring 21 points and shooting 75% (9-12) from the field in the win against York on Saturday. In addition to her performance on offense, Smith dominated on the boards, recording 35 total rebounds across two games (21 against McPherson - five offensive, 16 defensive, and 14 against York - five offensive, nine defensive). She also snagged three total steals and recorded six total blocks for a monster stat line for the week.
 
Her performances during the week helped the Bluejay women cruise to a win on the road at McPherson (68-39), and a win at home against York (76-46).
 
Smith and the Bluejays return to action on Wednesday as they head down to Wichita to take on Friends in a 6:00pm showdown. The Falcons currently sit third in the KCAC standings, while Tabor currently sits in a six-way tie for fourth.
