SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Friday evening marks the long-anticipated start of the 2025-26 Tabor College Women's Basketball season as the Bluejays make the trip north to take on preseason ranked No. 20 Briar Cliff.
The contest will be a solid test for Head Coach
Shawn Reed's squad, as his team looks a little bit different from a season ago. The days of
Alyvia Owens and
Kloe Bowin anchoring the five-spot and
Kassidy Beam shooting the lights out are now gone, but Reed's cupboard certainly wasn't left bare, as standout underclassman
Lillie Veer returns for her junior season, alongside mainstays like
Kaylee Kauffman,
Tayton Smith,
Hailey Contreras,
Brooke Berlin, and
Adrian Hazelwood.
Friday's contest marks just the fourth time Tabor and Briar Cliff have met on the hardwood, and the first meeting since the 2017 campaign. The Chargers currently hold a narrow 2-1 lead in the all-time series, with the Bluejays winning the most recent matchup at the Sterling College Classic in 2017, 57-45.
Fans are sure to be in for a treat as Friday provides an early matchup between two potential NAIA Tournament hopefuls.
