HILLSBORO, Kan. – Wednesday night opened conference play for the Bluejays, as Evangel came to town for the first time as a member of the KCAC.
Tabor jumped on the board first by way of a Bluejay kill off the serve from
Josephine Fuamatu. The Valor quickly answered with seven straight points to take a five-point lead, 7-2. The Bluejays fought back and pulled within four 12-8, courtesy of a
Mia Maly kill and an Evangel attack error. The rest of the set was all Valor, as EU took Set One by a final score of 25-16.
Set Two got off to a very different start as Fuamatu put TC on the board with a kill, then answered with a service ace. Two errors by the Valor and a kill by
Liana McGonigle gave Tabor a solid 5-0 advantage. Evangel continued to claw away at the Bluejays' lead, before tying the set at 12. Both sides traded the lead, before Evangel tied things up at 23. Following the tie, it was all Tabor, as the Bluejays closed out the set, 25-23.
The third set featured more of the same back and forth action before the Bluejays took a 22-20 lead. The Valor answered back, rattling off five straight points to close Set Three, 25-22.
Set Four offered the familiar back and forth action that two of the prior sets had, as Fuamatu and McGonigle put Tabor on the board first. The Valor put things away and won the set, 25-20, and the match, 3-1.
Tabor falls to 2-14 on the season with the loss and looks to bounce back on the road on Saturday in Winfield against Southwestern.
