CHICKASHA, Okla. – Tabor Women's Soccer traveled to Chickasha, Okla. Tuesday afternoon to take on a tough Drovers squad from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (USAO) in another non-conference match.
The Lady Bluejays headed into the match with a draw in their opening match against College of Saint Mary on Friday fresh in their minds, while the Drovers looked to defend their home pitch after a 2-0 start, picking up wins over LSU Shreveport and LSU Alexandria on the road.
If one though Tabor would be tired after a quick four-day turnaround, they would have been fooled as the Bluejays came tearing out of the gate, with
Raegan King taking a solid shot on goal at the 4:13 mark, with the Drovers keeper, Ashlyn Lonberg snagging the save. Science and Arts answered back with a shot on the Tabor goal, only to be disappointed as
Neve Mulrooney grabbed the save in her second match between the pipes. Mulrooney looked like a seasoned veteran, stopping the Drovers short of scoring four more times before they scored at the 31:44 mark. USAO continued to attack throughout the rest of the first half, however Mulrooney was there to make sure the score stayed 0-1 going into the halftime break.
Jami Dooley looked to notch her second goal of the season less than three minutes into the second half, but the shot went wide, and possession went back to the Drovers. The Drovers resumed their attack on the Tabor goal, with Mulrooney picking up yet another save before USAO to a 2-0 lead. Mulrooney picked up her ninth save of the evening before the Drovers netted their final goal of the match and extending their lead, 3-0. Mulrooney snagged one final save as time ran out, with the Bluejays falling in a three-goal decision.
Mulrooney finished the match with 10 saves to her credit, while Dooley and King took Tabor's only shots of the night.
The Lady Bluejays head north this weekend as they take on (RV) Bellevue in Papillion, Neb. Saturday evening in a 7:30 PM kickoff. The match will be broadcast live on the
Bellevue Bruins YouTube page and
live stats will be available.
