CHICKASHA, Okla. – Bluejay Women's Soccer rolls in to Chickasha, Okla. to take on the Drovers of University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (USAO) this evening in a 5 PM kickoff at McLaughlin Field on the USAO campus.
Since the 2007 season, the programs have faced each other on the pitch 11 times, with all 11 matches going the way of the Drovers. Most recently, the Lady Bluejays hosted USAO almost a full year ago on August 29
th, 2023, and put up a strong fight against the Drovers before falling, 1-0.
Thomas Gaskell's squad opened their season at home in Hillsboro this past Friday (August 23
rd), welcoming the College of Saint Mary Flames to Vernon Wiebe Field. The Lady Bluejays fought hard to a 1-1 result, spearheaded by a beautiful goal by
Jami Dooley, aided by freshman
Haven Deckinger.
Niall Crick heads up the Drovers' side, entering his second season as the head man in Chickasha. Crick's Drovers are a perfect 2-0 in the early season, earning decisive road victories over LSU-Shreveport (4-2) and LSU-Alexandria (2-0) last week.
This evening's match should provide plenty of excitement as Gaskell's roster consists of plenty of new faces in addition to a handful of returners.
Jami Dooley might be the player to watch for the Lady Bluejays after netting the team's lone goal last Friday, but
Haven Deckinger and
Taylor Nye looked equally impressive with both nearly adding goals of their own on multiple occasions against College of Saint Mary.
Daniela Salinas stands out the most for USAO, netting three goals in last week's action as well as contributing one assist. Katie O'Keefe, Clara Rodriguez, and Ilse De Jong also deserve attention, with each contributing a goal in the games last week.
Play will kick off at approximately 5 PM in Chickasha, and the match will be broadcast on the
SAC Sports Network. Live stats are available
