CHICKASHA, Okla. –
Grant Brubacher officially opens his 18
th season as the head man for Bluejay Men's Soccer this evening as the Bluejays head down south to take on the Drovers of the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (USAO). The match kicks off at approximately 7:30 PM at McLaughlin Field on the USAO campus.
The two squads have met 11 times since the 2007 campaign, with USAO holding the advantage, 2-9. A season ago, the Drovers left Hillsboro with a 4-0 decision.
Coach Brubacher and Associate Head Coach
Rafael Marins have worked to prepare their squad for this moment over the past two weeks. The Bluejays officially open their season tonight after playing Seward County Community College and Bethel in preseason scrimmages.
Jimmy Hampton is certainly no stranger to the Drover sideline, as he enters his 25
th season as the head man in Chickasha after starting both the Men's and Women's Soccer programs at USAO. Hampton and the Drovers have gotten off to a disappointing start after dropping two shutouts in Louisiana last week, falling to Louisiana Christian (4-0) and LSU Alexandria (1-0).
This evening's match provides plenty of intrigue, as Coach Brubacher and Coach Marins look to get quality production out of their newcomers, as well as a handful of returners. Freshman
Felipe Rodriguez looked strong in unofficial preseason play, so look for him to make a splash tonight.
Play kicks off at 7:30 PM in Chickasha, and the match will be broadcast on the
SAC Sports Network. Live stats are available
