SHREVEPORT, La. — The Tabor Bluejays were back in action Friday, February 2nd to take on Reinhardt University and Louisiana State University- Shreveport. The Bluejays found success in their first game against Reinhardt beating them 11-7. In their second game against LSU- Shreveport, the Bluejays struggled to score runs which caused them to lose game two, 6-1.
Game one against Reinhardt University looked good for the Bluejays. In the bottom of the second, the Eagles were first to score but it didn't take the Bluejays long to answer back in the third inning. Miguel Ramos hit a single to center and a few batters later, Tyler Mata-Lloyd got walked, Micah Dvorak hit a double to score Ramos to get Tabor on the board. In the top of the fourth, Aidan Martinez got walked and Marcelo Aguirre singled. Trotter Boston hit a 2-run RBI single to score both Martinez and Aguirre. Ramos hit a single up the middle to score Boston.
The Bluejays had a great hitting game and no errors in the field to get their first season win 11-7.
The Bluejays second game against LSU-Shreveport didn't go as planned. The Bluejays dropped game two 6-1. The Bluejays had a slow start and didn't score until the sixth inning. Micah Dvorak got the inning started by getting hit by a pitch and scored on a single hit by Cody Moore.
Assistant Coach Jacob Jones said, "I was happy with how our guys performed. Especially since that was our first time on a baseball field since the fall, due to the weather. I'm looking forward to seeing this team continue to grow through the season."
After playing two games in Louisiana, the Bluejays are 1-1. They play Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Tx on Saturday, February 9th at 2 p.m.
