BLUEJAYS DOMINATE PANTHERS IN 4-1 VICTORY

HILLSBORO, Kan. – The Bluejays left last Saturday's match against Avila still seeking another win to improve their conference record before the regular season wraps up. Tabor was set to host York University this Wednesday evening, but inclement weather forced the match to be postponed to Thursday evening instead. The Panthers entered the competition with an overall record of 6-6-4 and a record of 5-4-2 in KCAC play.

The match began in cool evening temperatures around 8:30 p.m., with both teams eager to battle for a late-night victory. York began the match on offense, with two Panthers finding opportunities to score but coming up unsuccessful. In the 12th minute of the match, Pol Fernandez found the back of the net at the other end of the pitch, assisted by Abe Friesen. Only six minutes later, Charlie Stammers put one past the keeper and extended the Bluejays' lead to 2-nil. Keeping up the offensive dominance, Abe Friesen netted the third goal for Tabor, assisted by Stammers. York attempted to retaliate several times throughout the first half, but Alejandro Honrado's efforts between the pipes left the Panthers scoreless as both teams went into halftime.

The second half started with action on both ends of the field, but no major results occurred. The next scoring play for the Bluejays happened as Genis Chacon attempted to cross and potentially set up a scoring opportunity for one of his teammates, but a Panther caught in the crossfire inadvertently netted an own goal and put Tabor ahead 4-nil. The Bluejays displayed an impressive offensive performance on the evening, and it wasn't until the 66th minute that York scored their first and only goal of the match against Tabor's defense.

The match concluded with a 4-1 final score and Honrado recorded a total of eight saves on the evening. The Bluejays will look ahead to their final regular season matchup against Oklahoma Wesleyan on Saturday, set to begin at 7:30 p.m. Make sure to keep an eye on any schedule changes as there may be poor weather conditions expected prior to the match. OKWU will enter the contest with an overall record of 16-1 and a record of 12-0 in KCAC play. Last night's win puts the Bluejays at an overall record of 5-8-3 and a conference record of 5-6-1.
