TABOR SHUTS OUT STERLING, SECURES 11TH STRAIGHT WIN AGAINST WARRIORS

Box Score STERLING, Kan. – Following Saturday's tough loss to Evangel, Tabor continued their conference schedule on the road as they faced Sterling College on Wednesday. Sterling entered the competition with a conference record of 1-5, while Tabor entered with a conference record of 1-3-1. In last year's contest, Tabor secured a 2-0 win over Sterling, extending their unbeaten streak against the Warriors to 10 consecutive victories, with every matchup since 2014 going in Tabor's favor. They would look to continue that streak this year, as the Bluejay offense sought to shut Sterling down early.

The Lady Bluejays opened the match with great intensity, as Raegan King, Porsha Zweifel, and Josie Simpson each had scoring opportunities within the first two minutes. April Ochoa took a couple of chances not long after, but despite the offensive control that the Bluejays had, none had been able to capitalize on a scoring opportunity yet. The Warriors retaliated with a single shot at the other end, which was saved by Neve Mulrooney. At the 8-minute mark, King was able to find the back of the net, putting the Lady Bluejays up 1-0 with most of the half still to play.

Mulrooney was able to record a few more saves as Sterling attempted to even the score, and Taylor Nye also took a shot at scoring. Torrance Gonzales helped Tabor extend their lead against the Warriors, converting an opportunity that put them ahead 2-0. King and Gonzales weren't the only ones on offense to hit the target during the first half, as Haven Deckinger also scored a goal for the Bluejays around the 34-minute mark, assisted by Cyerra Boyer. Mulrooney made four saves in the first half alone, contributing to Tabor's dominant performance in the opening period.

Beginning the second half, a handful of Tabor athletes attempted to convert at the goal, with not much action occurring. King was able to put it past the keeper once again, putting Tabor ahead by four and leaving little hope for the Warriors. The Lady Bluejays took a total of 25 shots during the match, while Sterling was only able to take eight, showing just how dominant the Tabor offense really was. Mulrooney recorded a clean sheet on the afternoon, and three different Bluejays were credited with scoring goals to give Tabor another conference victory. Tabor was able to record their 11th consecutive win against Sterling, leaving the Warriors unable to snap the run.

On Saturday at 1 p.m., Tabor will take on Ottawa University back on their home turf in Hillsboro. The Braves will enter the contest with a 1-3-2 conference record while the Bluejays will enter with a conference record of 2-3-1.
