CHADD’S FIRST-HALF GOAL AND HONRADO’S HEROICS LEAD BLUEJAYS TO VICTORY

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Following the Bluejays' close contest with Kansas Wesleyan on Wednesday, Tabor traveled to Springfield, Mo. where they faced off with Evangel University in yet another conference showdown. The Bluejays entered the competition with a conference record of 2-2 while the Valor entered with an identical conference record.

David Montoya and Cooper Taylor began the Bluejays' offensive efforts, both taking shots to attempt to put Tabor up early, but neither could find the back of the net. The Valor retaliated with 3 attempted shots, 2 of which were saved by Alejandro Honrado. For the rest of the first half, the Valor had a majority of the possession on offense, taking two more shots at scoring and racking up another save for Honrado at goalkeeper. Following an extensive Evangel possession, Cason Chadd was able to capitalize on an opportunity at the goal and put the Bluejays on top going into halftime, with an assist from Molelwa Abendelwa

Maintaining their momentum, Tabor entered the second half determined to keep up their offensive efforts, with Daniel Rodriguez and Cooper Taylor both attempting to extend their lead but neither coming up successful. Both teams would go on to battle back and forth across the turf, but neither produced many results. Honrado went on to record seven total saves on the evening, making an outstanding defensive effort to keep the Bluejays on top. Jude Jones and Charlie Stammers also took a shot at the goal nearing the end of the match, with both narrowly missing the target. After Evangel's one last attempt at scoring with two minutes left, the Bluejays were able to hold them off, defeating the Valor with a final score of 1-0.

Tabor will aim to carry their momentum into Wednesday's matchup, where they will be on the road to face Sterling College at 3 p.m. The Warriors will approach the match with a 2-4 conference record and an overall record of 3-7-1, while the Bluejays will come in holding a 2-3 conference record and a 2-5-2 overall standing.
