Box Score HILLSBORO, Kan. – Following Tabor's 1-nil victory against Bethany on Wednesday, the Bluejays were back in action on Saturday for yet another conference matchup against Avila. Gorgeous temperatures set the scene for Senior Day, as Tabor recognized 10 seniors that have each contributed in unique ways to the team during their time in Hillsboro.
It was a slow start to the match, with the first shot from either team coming from
Daniel Davis, about 14 minutes into play. After plenty of back-and-forth action, Avila scored their first goal with much of the half still left to go. The half ended with minimal noteworthy moments, as both teams struggled to generate any significant offensive plays.
Molelwa Abendelwa kicked off the second half for Tabor, taking a shot at the goal that hadn't seen much action yet.
Martin Marinakis also attempted to equalize for the Bluejays, but Avila's defense proved to be a tough challenge for Tabor. Avila scored their second goal in the 58th minute, taking a 2-0 lead. With around 20 minutes remaining in the match, the Bluejays began to dominate offensively, with several Tabor athletes making efforts to get on the scoreboard. Davis managed to score in the final minutes, narrowing the Eagles' lead to 2-1. Despite their late offensive dominance, Tabor was unable to force a draw as the clock expired.
