LATE GOAL SENDS BLUEJAY MEN HOME WITH A DRAW

Box Score

HILLSBORO, Kan.     The Bluejays traveled to McPherson to take on Central Christian College on Wednesday looking to gain their first win of the 2023 season, but unfortunately had to share the spoils with the Tigers with a 1-1 tie.

"It was a step in the right direction," said coach Brubacher after the game. The first half of the match saw some good soccer played by the Bluejays, with Sam Butler and Owen Bellamy creating many good chances going forward.

The second half brought much of the same from the Bluejays, and they eventually broke the deadlock through the Spaniard Ander Bengoextea on a break-away goal in the 61st minute. The Bluejays then went into defensive mode looking to gain the win.

Unfortunately, the Bluejays would be undone late in the game when Central Christian's Camilo Penafiel found himself with the ball at his feet in the 89th minute inside the Bluejays box and was able to slam in the equalizer.

Tabor's next game will be at home on Saturday, September 9th to face the Doane Tigers, with kick-off scheduled for 7:30 pm.

Tabor College is a Christ-centered institution located in Hillsboro, Kansas. The Bluejays are members of the NAIA and compete in the KCAC.
