Springfield, Mo.     The Tabor Bluejays were on the road to play the Evangel Valors in Springfield, Missouri on September 30th. The ladies were in hopes of getting back on track to add another win to their record. Unfortunately, they fell short in three sets. 

Head Coach Casey Quiggle said, "Without Emma Rhodes, we came in with a game plan to use Juliana Alaniz as our setter. In the third set, we decided to run a 6-2 using Kiana Unruh as our second setter. Both Jules and Ki stepped up and did a great job. While the outcome wasn't what we were working for, the team is seeing that we can compete even when we're down one of our starters."

The first set for the Bluejays went well and they hung on to the Valors but it just wasn't enough for them to make it to the end and lost set one, 19-25. Set two Evangel had all control, by the time the Bluejays hit double digits, it was a bit too late, 11-25. After a quick team huddle, the ladies were back in leading the Valors in the third set but couldn't pull out a win to take them into the next set, losing, 23-25. 

"This team is continuing to improve and different people are stepping up each game. While no one likes losing, we have to learn from our mistakes and look to the next game. Today, we made too many unforced errors in the first couple of sets and we need to cut down on those mistakes" said Coach Quiggle. 

A few ladies that stuck out were junior, Valerie Allen with 6 kills. Junior, Juliana Alaniz with 16 assists and 12 digs. Senior, Kenna Brandes with 14 digs. 

The KCAC record for the Bluejays is now 1-2 and overall 9-7. The Lady Bluejays' next game is Wednesday, October 4th at 7:00 p.m. in Sterling, Kansas against the Sterling Warriors. 

Tabor College is a Christ-centered institution located in Hillsboro, Kansas.  The Bluejays are members of the NAIA and compete in the KCAC.
