Box Score WINFIELD, Kan. The Bluejays came into Saturday's game after an impressive 3-1 win over the Midland Warriors in midweek. Another hard-fought display against the Moundbuilders paved the way to get the 4-3 victory for the Bluejays.
The first half brought chances for both teams, but senior Eric Brown broke the deadlock with a goal in the 32nd minute after a well worked move down the right wing. The Moundbuilders did not remain down for long after a defensive error fell to the feet of the Southwestern winger, who calmly dispatched the goal to tie the game 1-1. However, the Welshman, Eric Brown had other ideas as he scored his second goal of the game in the 39th minute after an Ian Freundt corner. The 2-1 Tabor lead would hold until halftime.
The second half came and the Bluejays came out looking to gain control of the game, this was helped by a red card for Southwestern in the 54th minute. This was shortly followed by a headed goal from Abwe Abendelwa off a Vito Villa cross, giving the Bluejays a 3-1 lead.
In the next five minutes the Moundbuilders found a way to tie the game up after a well-worked finish and a penalty tied the game up with a little over twenty minutes to go. Tabor responded with a goal from Fruendt, the maestro from Peru, who had other ideas as he slammed home a Sam Butler cross in the 70th minute to make the score 4-3. The Bluejays would defend this lead until the full-time whistle, bringing in the first away win of the season for the Bluejays.
The Bluejays next game will be on the road against Kansas Wesleyan University with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 pm on Wednesday, September 27th.
