HUTCHINSON, Kan. A great first-round win against Bethany College caused the Bluejays to move on to the quarter-finals against Oklahoma Wesleyan University. With high hopes to keep their season going, it fell short in three sets.
Head Coach Casey Quiggle said, "We came into today with a positive attitude and planning to leave it all on the court. We knew OKWU would be a tough challenge as they have a lot of firepower. For our Seniors, they knew today may be their last time playing collegiate volleyball and they wanted to simply play hard and have fun. While the scores may not show it, we had a lot of positives and most of all, a good season full of positives."
In the first set, the Bluejays looked on top of their game keeping the Eagles within arm's reach. A few errors on defense for the Jays caused them to lose set one, 9-25. The ladies played set two much closer and had OKWU on their toes. Falling just short, 21-25. The Eagles scored first in the third set and never let off. The Bluejays struggled to find a rhythm and lost, 11-25.
"Our team came into the season picked to finish 13th in KCAC. So for us to have a winning record and finish 8th in KCAC, and win our first-round game, that's a great accomplishment. It not only shows the resiliency of this team, but it shows that we can continue to build. I'm happy for our Seniors to end their collegiate careers at the tournament in Hutch; it isn't something everyone gets the chance to do. And I'm looking forward to continuing to build our program", exclaimed Coach Quiggs.
This wraps up the Bluejays season with a record of 15-13 overall.
Tabor College is a Christ-centered institution located in Hillsboro, Kansas. The Bluejays are members of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and compete in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC).
