Box Score Kansas City, Mo. The Bluejays came into Saturday's game on a mission to keep their winning momentum going. The momentum once again went with the Bluejays with an emphatic 4-0 win over Avila on the day.
The Bluejays were straight on the front foot in the first half and it did not take long for the Eagles to be broken down. Ander Bengoetxea found himself on the scoresheet off a Cooper Taylor cross in the 15th minute, as the Spaniard slotted coolly past the Avila keeper. Bengoetxea would shortly grab his second of the game in the 33rd minute off an Owen Bellamy assist to make the score 2-0 at the break.
The second half brought an even greater offensive onslaught from the Bluejays with 11 shots. The hard work was quickly rewarded in the 69th minute as Owen Bellamy slotted for the third goal of the game and his first goal of the season off an Bengoetxea assist. The Spaniard would round off a perfect day at the office with his hat trick goal from an Abwe Abendelwa pass in the 71st minute. This allowed the Bluejays to comfortably see the game out with a 4-0 scoreline.
"It was good to get this emphatic win and continue our forward momentum. It was also amazing to see Ander (KCAC Offensive Player of the Week) and Cooper (KCAC Defensive Player of the Week) get the KCAC players of the week. They really deserve it for all their hard work and their great contributions to our program," Head Coach Grant Brubacher said after the game.
The Bluejays will next play on the road on Wednesday, Oct. 25 at York University, with kickoff set for 1:00 p.m.
Tabor College is a Christ-centered institution located in Hillsboro, Kansas. The Bluejays are members of the NAIA and compete in the KCAC.
