BLUEJAYS BATTLE BUT FALL SHORT AGAINST THRESHERS

Box Score

Newton, Kan.   The Bluejays came into Wednesday's game against the Threshers after a disappointing loss on the road against the Braves of Ottawa. Despite battling hard in the second half, it wasn't enough to overcome the Threshers.

The first half started poorly for the Bluejays as they conceded in the second minute of the game. Despite some chances for the Bluejays, the Threshers extended their lead in the 30th minute. Ander Bengoetxea was able to snatch a goal back in the 32nd minute. This score would hold until the break making the score 2-1 at halftime.

The second half brought an onslaught from the Bluejay offense as they registered seven shots in the second half. However the Threshers held firm despite having their goalkeeper sent off in the 57th minute. To add insult to injury the Threshers scored again in the 78th minute. Sam Butler was able to claw one goal back in the 82nd minute, however it wasn't enough to change the game making the final result 3-2.

"It was a disappointing result, but we have to execute better for Saturday's game". Head Coach Grant Brubacher said.

The Bluejays will next play at home on Saturday, October 14th against the University of Saint Mary with kickoff set for 3:30 p.m. It will also be Senior Day for the Bluejays.
