BLUEJAYS BATTLE HARD IN ROAD MATCH AGAINST BETHANY, BUT FALL SHORT

LINDSBORG, Kan. – The Tabor College men's and women's tennis teams hit the road on Monday, April 7, to face Bethany College in KCAC action. Despite a number of close sets and competitive efforts, both Bluejay squads came up short, with the men and women falling 0-7.

Women's Recap (Lost 0-7)

In doubles play, the Bluejays struggled to gain momentum against a consistent Bethany lineup. Fiorella Villa and Allison Johnson fell 6-0, as did the pairings of Piper Foegen and Cassidy Boyer, and Margaret Bates and Sheridan Bussard.

Villa showed resilience in singles, pushing her opponent to a tight first set before falling 7-5, 6-0. Johnson also put up a strong early fight but dropped her match 6-1, 6-0. The rest of the singles lineup struggled to gain traction, with Foegen, Bates, Boyer, and Bussard all falling in straight sets.

Men's Recap (Lost 0-7)

The men's doubles contests were highly competitive. Ko Osuga and Jake Goertzen battled to a narrow 7-6 loss. Ethan Kutz and Peter Jost pushed their opponents to the brink and pulled off a 7-6 (8-6) tiebreak win, though the overall team point still went to Bethany. Alexandre Boljesic and John Ferley dropped their match 6-1.

In singles play, Osuga continued the fight, falling 7-6, 6-3. Goertzen and Kutz each showed strong moments but dropped their matches 6-2, 6-2 and 7-5, 6-4, respectively. Jost kept his match tight but came up short, 7-6, 6-5. Boljesic and Ferley rounded out the lineup, both falling in straight sets.

Up Next

Tabor will look to bounce back quickly as they return home to host Kansas Wesleyan on Wednesday, April 9. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m. at the Hillsboro Sports Complex.
