NELSON TABBED TO BE THE NEXT TENNIS COACH

HILLSBORO, Kan.  -  Following the conclusion of the 2024 season, Tabor has named its next full-time men's and women's tennis coach, as Jeremy Nelson has agreed to take over the program, effective immediately.

"Jeremy brings a wealth of tennis knowledge to our program and will provide stability to both our men's and women's teams. He is a proven winner on the court, and is an outstanding Christian man who has the spiritual life of our student-athletes as a top priority. His knowledge of the KCAC, as well as high school contacts, will serve him well in making Bluejay tennis a contender in the conference. We are very excited to Coach Nelson on campus," Director of Athletics David Ediger said.

Nelson most recently completed his second stint as Assistant Athletic Director and Sports Information Director at Central Christian College from 2022-2024, initially serving in the same positions from 2008-2018. In between those years he occupied the Assistant Athletic Director and Sports Information Director positions at McPherson College. In 2020 he also took the initiative to coach the McPherson College men's and women's tennis teams.

In addition to his athletic administration duties, Nelson was the Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach from 2008-2014 at Central Christian College. He also served as the Middle and High School Director of the Mac Advantage Tennis Club in McPherson from 2002-2018.

A graduate of Bethany College in 1997, Nelson was a teacher in McPherson and pastor in Independence, Mo. prior to his coaching and administration role at Central Christian College.

Nelson takes over the programs that were led by John Ruder, who served as the interim head coach in the spring of the 2024 season.

"I am excited to join the Tabor College family. Tabor tennis has a storied tradition of character and excellence, and I am honored to carry the torch. My goal for next season is to put a quality product on the court, but more importantly one that brings honor and glory to Jesus Christ," Nelson said.
