HILLSBORO, Kan. - As the 2023 fall season ends, fall athletes find a lot of free time, which they might use to develop new hobbies or start working.
Those who start to work must find ways to balance work, school, and possibly spring training. Every job is different in workload, schedule, and availability; students must find time to balance
it all.
Tabor football player
Ahmad Bailey says he is a dietary aide at a nearby nursing home. Bailey said, "The days that I'm not working in the afternoon, I'm trying to do all my homework and stay ahead on all my work".
He originally worked 20 hours to start during the off-season. He said he can enjoy his time outside of work and class when he is not working because he balances his time when he has no work.
Kimari Downer, a Tabor volleyball player, works as a student ambassador. She said, "As long as I schedule my time correctly, it's not too bad. " Downer also said that she writes down everything she must do in her agenda, which helps her manage her time appropriately.
Every student-athlete manages his or her time differently. Because of this, some students can work two jobs if they can balance their time well enough. Tabor football player
Antonio Cardona works two jobs during the off-season.
Cardona works at the JayShop and MB Foundation, for around 25 hours a week. He said, "Balancing work, school, and football is difficult, but as long as you stay organized and are on top
of yourself, it can be easy."
He says that, "overpreparing for your assignments ahead of time" can help make having an outside life easy.
Preparations for next year's fall sports will begin shortly, and these athletes will manage work, school, and practice. Some students even plan to work during the fall season.
If students can manage their time, either with an agenda or other methods, they can balance work, school, and practice.
