BLUEJAYS FALL AT THE HANDS OF DOANE IN HARD CONDITIONS

HILLSBORO, Kan.  -  The Bluejays played host to the Tigers of Doane University on Tuesday with the hopes of making positive strides in the right direction before conference play. However, some hard conditions and an in-form Doane team made for a 6-1 loss for the Bluejays.

The silver lining for the Bluejays was Stephano Moreano Chan who defeated Doane's Diego Infante 6-1, 6-1 in a great match for the senior from Ecuador, as well as Jean Paul Fort and Ko Osuga winning their doubles match. Despite losing their singles matches both Ko Osuga and Jake Goertzen forced third set tie breakers losing 10-6 in to closely fought matches.

"It was a tough day as we battled 50 mile an hour gusts and a 40 degree temperature drop from the beginning of the match to the end. The players handled this obstacle very well. They didn't get rattled and played strong tennis with rallies that lasted longer than I expected," said Coach John Ruder after the matches.

The Bluejays will next play hosts to the Broncos of Hastings College on Saturday, March 4th, with matches set to start at 9:00 a.m.
